all i ever wanted.

warning: this post will be dedicated entirely to kelly clarkson's new album, All I Ever Wanted.

if you know me, you know my severe and deep love for kelly. her latest album was released on friday. and dont worry, i am gonna BUY it when it comes out. i cannot remember the last time i actually bought i CD. i think it might have been carrie underwood's carnival ride. but when kelly's comes out on march 10th, i will be on the bus after class to target. woo.

All I ever wanted Pictures, Images and Photos

kk.
so ima dissect the cd song by song.
lets do this!

1. my life would suck without you- it has you hooked from the beginning. it sounds a little like since u been gone for the first couple of seconds until it enters the actual song. while, and ive said this before, im not too fond of the lyrics, this song has completely grown on me. i really can just sing and dance to this. freaking catchy man.

Kelly Clarkson Pictures, Images and Photos

2. i do not hook up- a katy perry song originally. i love the message of this song. im conservative, i know. but im also not. i really am gonna try and follow the message of this song, hard as it can be. the actual song is completely catchy. actually, most of this album is catchy. i cant decide whos version i like more, katys or kellys. i think it might be a tie. deng it. deng katy perry.

3. cry- i love love love this song. kelly has said in interviews how this is probably the most personal song on the album and i can see why. listening to it, idk. it puts you at peace. but it also makes you a little sad. and it so sounds like it could be on a country album. im really waiting for the day when she puts out a country album. then, i can die. her vocals are pure and amazing. simple.

4. dont let me stop you- so i dont like the first 3o seconds. but after that, i love it. i love the verse before the chorus. its freaking amazing. her voice sounds raw when she sings it. and the lyrics. deng. maybe im just a sucker for kelly clarkson? quien sabe. loveeee it.

Kelly Clarkson Pictures, Images and Photos

5. all i ever wanted- this song is possibly my favorite on the album. its originally a song by the band aranda. ive listened to both versions, i prefer kellys, i think mostly because im completely partial to female voices. it has an interesting intro, kellys voice stays in the lower range for most of the song, making it easier to sing along to. the chorus breaks out, its kinna funny, you can almost dance to it. almost. to me, the song has a dark and almost seductive element to it, but it might just be the key that the verse is sang in.

6. already gone- im not sure i like that "gone" is in the title because she already has a song called "gone." but oh well. they sound entirely different. this song is much slower. its nice and the vocals are well crafted, but other than that, its nothing outstanding to me. not bad, but not great. however, i like it just the same.

7. if i cant have you- i love the sound of this song, very punk-pop. the instrumental part is catchy. and kelly is lucky she has a voice that can do anything. however, i dont think these are the kinds of songs she should be singing. but aside from that, its still great and fun to listen to. and the bridge/collision reminds me of madonna circa confessions of a dancefloor. love it.

Photobucket

8. save you- one of the slower songs on the album. if it werent for the experimental, piano-driven bridge, i dont think itd really stick out too much.

9. whyyawannabringmedown- yes, its all one word. not one of my favorites. i know kelly can do any genre of music and be amazing, which she is. however, this song is eh for me. its fun and loud and funky, but something about it just isnt clicking for me.

10. long shot- another song originally recorded by miss katy perry. i think i actually like katys version more, as much as that pains me to say. its a close race, but katys voice fits the song better. katys version has her voice going in and out, up and down more. since kelly has more range, theres less of that. but the going in and out, is what makes katys songs so fun to sing. but overall, its a fun song. catchy. freaking katy perry and her catchy music.

11. impossible- it reminds me of something. im just not sure what. and its bugging the fuck out of me. madonna again perhaps? i have no clue. this bugs. but anyways. good song. nothing outstanding.

Photobucket

12. ready- this is only song of the four demos that was leaked that was put on the cd. i like the demo version better. its more organic. the final version just seems generic and very very off. it sounds like it was made in the sixties. i agree with another blogger who said it couldve belonged on mandy moore's wild hope album.

13. i want you- very retro feel. freaking love it. reminds me of american dreams. i love the bridge and the chorus. everything. i want you. ha. love it.

14. if no one else will listen- it was orginally a song by keri noble. im not sure why its on the album. im not quite sure it belongs on there. i love the message of the song, but i feel like it ages kelly. her vocals are perfect, but its kinna a debbie to close this fun album with. oh well.

favorites: all i ever wanted, dont let me stop you, i want you, cry

not fair.

the new lily allen album, its not you, its me, is beyond words.
incredible. amazing. my new obsession.
i love the music that she puts her incredibly blunt lyrics to.
her songs are so catchy.
i was singing along with most of them the first time i heard them.
she may be a druggie and have an incredibly foul mouth,
but her songs are marvelous.
i had been so excited for the new fray cd,
but fuck it.
lily beats them all.
ALLL.
my favorite off her album is "not fair."
not only does it have country influence,
the lyrics are so funny.
its basically about a guy who is perfect except for the fact that he sucks in bed.
he cums to fast. haha.
"its not fair, and its really not ok."
oh lily...

i feel like a lot of new material has been released lately.
lets see...
ok the fray album.
its alright.
i had much higher expectations for them after their last album.
its not to say that their self-titled album isnt any good.
it just doesnt make me wanna put it on repeat the way how to save a life did.
never say never is probably my favorite off the album.
id give the album 3.5 out of 5.
ive had the album for about a week now,
and nothing has made me wanna listen to it anywhere near the way lily's makes me wanna listen.

i finally got a hold of the latest frank sinatra cd to be released,
seduction: sinatra sings of love.
frank can really do no wrong.
and this album is a great supplement to his greatest love songs album.
all the songs are classic standards.
i love listening to frank for any occasion.
mmm...

secondhand serenade released a twist in my story, deluxe edition.
i really cant stand this man's voice.
its incredibly whiny.
you lost a girl, get over it. gees.
i hate "fall for you" like no other.
i think its completely ridiculous.
i def not your typical girl when it comes to songs like these.
i hate songs where girls are like "omgosh. its so cute! i wish someone would sing this to me."
gag me, bitch.
so basically, the album is eh.
this dude needs to write some happy songs.
seriously.
or if he likes singing sad songs,
at least make it about something other than a girl.
write a sad song about the many Palestinians who are having their houses demolished in Israel because the Israelis refuse to recognize the Palestinians and want to keep them at their beck and call.
thats sad. the people in Gahna who are starving and without medicine, because nothing is allowed to enter is sad.
you losing a girl? suddenly not so sad huh? almost infantile actually.

on a country note,
dierks bently released his new album, feel that fire.
again, he does the kind of country i love.
the kind you just wanna dance around to cuz it makes you happy.
it has a good beat, fun lyrics, and makes you smile.
any song that can do that is a good song.
he has a duet with patty griffin on his cd called "beautiful world."
i love patty. shes amazing.
the song is a great ballad. not sad at all.
support country.
buy the album.

lastly,
the matrix, who is a group of very popular producers, for those who didnt know,
have released an album they made with katy perry and adam longlands on vocals.
it was recorded back in 2004, before katy had any popularity,
but they waited to release it because of the flack they got.
the music is different.
im not quite sure what to compare it to.
but its interesting and worth a listen.

mmkay. im getting sleepy.

night.

my top 10 favorite country artists.

okay.
so this one really will stay at 10. and the descriptions will hopefully be a lot shorter.
as always,
no particular order.

1. Johnny Cash- the king of country music. he did so much to the genre, to all genres really. he revolutionized music with his lyrics. he was a bad boy with a soft heart. his deep hurt voice is known around the world.
favorite: cocaine blues

2. Willie Nelson- oh willie...this man is so cool. there arent even words. he's in his seventies and still going strong. ill probably cry when this man passes. while i do support his love/use of pot, i support him. he was a large part of the outlaw country music of the 70s. hell, i just remembered how i used to sing his songs for karaoke when i was little. haha. plus, willie reminds me of my grandpa. =]
favorites: blue eyes cryin in the rain, on the road again, always on my mind, mamas dont let your babies grow up to be cowboys.

3. Alison Krauss & Union Station- I went over alison and her band in my list of my "10" favorite artists. just for effect, this woman has won 21 grammys, more than any other female artist and tied for 7th place of most grammys won of all time. and shes only 37. this woman is already a freaking legend. the bluegrass she plays is amazing. mmm...alison krauss...
favorites: new favorite, oh atlanta, forget about it, new favorite, stars

4. Reba McEntire- oh ms mcentire... i believe i fell in love with reba the first time i heard "fancy" play. gosh...fancy. that has to be one of the most classic country songs. id know rebas voice anywhere. she's evolved so wonderfully over the years. she has been through so much and still managed to come out on top. plus, she toured with kelly clarkson. and let me say that i wouldve given my left arm to have seen them together live[but the closes to LA they were coming was reno,nv]. reba is lengend. end of story.
favorites: fancy, the greatest man i never knew, how blue, whoevers in new england, love revival, im gonna take that mountain, my sister.

5. Brooks & Dunn- wow...i seem to be doing all my legends first. haha. these men have so many hits under their belt. idk where to even begin. i guess ill start with what is probably their most popular song, boot scootin boogie. really, who doenst love this song? it makes you wanna get up, dance, and literally scoot your boots. haha. the combination of ronnie dunn singing along with kix brooks' mandolin/guitar playing is an unbeatable combo. these men have won the CMA vocal duo of the year every year btwn 92 and 06, with the exception of 2000. that says a lot, eh?
favorites: my maria, honky tonk truth, boot scootin boogie, that aint no way to go, rock my world, neon moon, shes not the cheatin kind, red dirt road, aint nothin bout you.

6. Dixie Chicks- so much controversy. sometimes i really wish they really did just "shut up and sing" because maybe then theyd still be making country albums. these three women are incredibly smart and even more talented. i remember when wide open spaces was first released and there was all this buzz surrounding this new all girl country group. they were more than just pretty faces. natalie has one of the most distinct voices ive ever heard. i envied martie's ability to play the fiddle for quite a few years when i was younger. and, on top of being gorgeous, emily can play so many instruments, inc one of my fav, the dobro. i was so happy when they released their third album, home, because it was so incredibly bluegrass and well-crafted. it remains one of my favorite country cds to this day. however, after home, natalie made the remarks about george bush and that was the end of country music for the chicks. it was "a cold day in july," eventho it was really august.
favorites: hello mr heartache, sin wagon, hole in my head, let him fly, ready to run, if i fall, long time gone, truth no 2, white trash wedding, a home, top of the world, easy silence, everybody knows, wide open spaces, i can love you better, theres your trouble, never say die, tonight the heartaches on me.

7. Martina McBride- she has been called the "celine dion of country." what an honor. im not quite sure when i fell in love with martina. i think it was probably when i heard "i love you" while watching runaway bride. i dont know what to say about martina other than she can basically sing just about anything. and she has the prettiest blue eyes in country music. her songs are catchy and most of them have a message, usually uplifting, but sometimes just informative.
favorites: i love you, loves the only house, valentine, chances are, how far, my baby loves me, independence day, safe in the arms of love.

8. Toby Keith- i love this guy for so many reasons. first, i find him attractive in the weirdest way. second, i love love love his voice. im not sure what it is about, i think its probably how thick and masculine it is. its almsot seductive. i was a 13yr old girl whod never had a sip of anything alcoholic in her life singing along to toby's "i love this bar." i remember loving that song so much. it was my favorite for awhile. memories... he stood up against the dixie chicks when they made remarks against bush, wearing shirts that had "FUDC" and "FUNM" on them, meaning "eff you dixie chicks/natalie maines." it was pretty bomb. he's a bad ass and he knows it.

9. Garth Brooks- i seriously almost forgor to put him on my list. gosh, im dumb. gees, i think everyone knows who garth brooks is. hes freaking bomb. it doenst even seem like hes been aronud as long as he has. half his songs make you wanna get up and dance. he has such charisma on stage. i wanna go see him! but thats something entitely different. the point is, im an idiot for almost forgetting to put mr brooks on my list. gees. i mean, really, every country fan knows all the words to "friends in low places."
favorites: friends in low places[the live version], two pina coladas, two of a kind workin on a full house, papa loved mama, longneck bottle, aint goin down, the dance, rodeo, if tomorrow never comes, much too young.

10. because i swore this would stay at 10...Tim McGraw, Loretta Lynn, Shania Twain, Brad Paisley, Sugarland, LeAnn Rimes, Sara Evans.
favorites, tim: i like it i love it, just to see your smile, where the green grass grows, something like that, maybe we should just sleep on it, down on the farm, my old friend, let it go, back when, i need you, the cowboy in me, when the stars go blue, real good man.
favorites, shania: her entire come on over album, i aint no quitter, dance with the one that brought you, thank you baby, in my car, any man of mine.
favorites, brad: the world, alcohol, he didnt have to be, we danced, ticks, oh love.
favorites, sugarland: everything. seriously, everything.
favorites, leann rimes: blue, one way ticket, somethings gotta give, life goes on, i believe, 10 thousand angels cried, cant fight the moonlight, big deal.
favorites, sara evans: born to fly, saints and angels, i keep looking, suds in the bucket, true lies, three chords and the truth.

mmm...lily allen...
